Electric Cars

Something in a SciFi movie? Or something to consider putting in your driveway?

In a recent photovoltaic magazine this topic was discussed incessantly. What changes are we to expect from the automotive world in the near future? In the many related articles it was mentioned that many companies have turned their focus to the energy saving solutions, and are now competing to create the solutions.

Toyota, General Motors, Chrysler, Volkswagen and Ford have all been intrigued by the new challenges of developing the ideas of electric run vehicles. Along with BMW and Mercedes who have already displayed predictions for their new lines in lithium ion battery powered automobiles. In Europe concept cars and functional electric vehicles are available today, so it is only a matter of time until your next door neighbor parks one in front of his house. Maybe its time to look into these innovative and problem-solving transportations.

There are still major factors in the development process that are missing for this exciting production. Such as, compatible and transportable battery systems and reliable, long lasting batteries with large storage capabilities. There is also a concern about the cooling system in the vehicles. Cars are idle for 23 of 24 hours, statistically, and battery life is heavily influenced by the temperature during this time. However with the intelligent minds that are working around the world these problems will soon be settled.

So in the opinion of Dirk Uwe Sauer, a professor at RWTH Aachen University in Germany, the reality of electric mobility is just around the corner. "...if you look at the last two years in the car industry, for example, then you recognize a rash change in the way people are thinking...Today everyone believes that electric mobility is coming."

So this wonderful technology will soon be here to solve the challenges and damages that our world is going through today. Who wouldn't want to help solve the future problems caused by increased expansion of renewable energy sources by driving to the store in their electric car?
